are you over the age of 30 and a pro athlete requiring dead lift strength?

If no, then no, never do them again. You already have multiple injuries. Hang it up.

you can get buff as fuck doing other stuff. Stick with that. Dead lifts are dangerous. It just takes one lazy, out of form lift to fuck yourself up.. I know too many people who basically can't ever lift anything heavy again because of dead lift injuries (like can't pick up a heavy suitcase, etc)

I see old dudes squatting, but I'm careful with those. I'm not a college athlete anymore. I am not afraid to use the squat machine these days.

You don't need traditional from the floor deadlifts to be strong and in shape. It you continue to barbell lift moderate-heavy, i would consider rotating any of the following to maintain your posterior chain: RDL, pendlays, trap bar, SLDL, good mornings, hip thrusts, swings.

Sumo technique is much more technical than conventional, but for most (not all), it will result in a more upright posture at the bottom and thus less stress on the low back.

Personally, I always found in easier to get stronger overall, and then let the deadlift essentially trail along, and it will go up naturally without over-straining.

Squats + the things I listed. It's basically impossible to overtrain your abs and glutes.

Edit: plus huge amounts of back work.

stop doing DLs. don't squat either. hurting your back can permafuck your life. you wanna spend the rest of your life in pain wanting to die? your symptoms indicate that you already have a tear in a disc annulus.

Do some faggot lunges instead.

cant u just lift lighter?

its kinda a hassle to do all these weird little dumbell things. cant u just deadlift like 100 pounds for 10 instead of 200 for 5?

seems like a good solution

Nah, don’t quit deadlifts. There is nothing better in the gym than picking 6 plates off the ground for reps. But that’s the thing. Stay at 315 or so. Do 4 sets of 5 and call it good. Deadlifting makes every other lift easier.

The above is true for bench as well. You can get lots of shoulder issues “maxing out.”

Really all of your max lifts, should come from dumbbell work for reps...none of that 1 rep max shit. But that doesn’t mean you should give up the basics.
