I like that look v. what they look like when they've been redone. Whoever buys that is going to gut the kitchen and baths and redo them with modern garbage.

Spending almost $8m for that is absolutely insane and feels like a bubble. The $2-3m houses in Sunnyvale, Mountain View and South Palo Alto that Non sequitur poasts are one thing, because it's much easier to comprehend two people making $200k or one person making $400k buying them. $8m is getting into 0.5% territory even for SV. That used to be Hillsborough- and Atherton-only pricing.

I know...but $8m for that place that someone is going to dump at least $400k on the roof, kitchen, and bathrooms, and all of the deferred maintenance things we don't know about. Will probably seem like a bargain in 5 years, though.

But jfc: $1.6m in cash down. I guess you can get there through equity in your starter house if you timed things right. A way to make even biglaw partners live hand to mouth.

we do, but he's right that $8M is a high number. you're playing in a different tier at that price point.

When I was biglaw the BSD partners were buying $4-5m houses (though they seemed to want to be in Los Altos Hills or Palo Alto on the other side of 280 v. Old Palo Alto) and this was a few years ago, so hehe inflation and you get to this point. If you're making 7-figures and have a bunch of equity from a starter house, it's not unthinkable, it's just crazy to get what would be an $800k house in most other places.

What the fuck is wrong with people in SV?

Why is that lot so desirable? Seems like comps are in the 3-4M range.

What would the commute be to a decent job?

It's in a walkable neighborhood in the nicest town in the area depending upon what you want.

It's an easy 1 mile walk from Wilson Sonsini.
