It's ridiculous how maximum stalling tactics (30 hours of Senate stalling per each nominee) are even being used for non-controversial district court nominees in the Senate.

Dems and Republicans should be able to come to some kind of understanding that district judges get through quickly, there are way too many vacancies that is hurting litigation in my state.

Huh? Dems would be compromising now. You do realize there's a Republican president and Senate, right? District judges are nevertheless getting confirmed very slowly.

It's not like Democrats would stop delaying if they got nothing in return.

Status quo is fine for Republicans because they win after the delays.

The return would be the Senate rules change for district judges period. Say, allow 10 hours of delay instead of 30. Applies permanently, no matter who wins in 2020.

McConnell doesn't need Dem permission to make a change to lower the time from 30 hours of floor time per nomination. He's being a pussy about it though, and Schumer is stringing him out with faint promises of a big package deal that will never happen, especially as midterm elections approach.

99% of district court work is apolitical and Congress have been faggots about funding new judges and filling vacancies for decades. Judges don't have lobbyists so nobody gives a shit.
