totally fine with this. But the draft age should also be raised to 21. Fucked up forcing a 19 year old go and die in the sand with an m4 but not letting him buy one when he gets back.

I’m all for increasing the age if it’s a first step in increasing the voting age.

The statute at issue in Lopez was amended by Congress and has been upheld by every circuit court that has addressed it.

This was a bump of a week old thread because earlier today there were some reports of the CCW bill passed by the House in December as still being on the table, but Trump people have apparently said he wants a narrower version without CCW.

For the record I don't want rifle age to be raised, although I could live with a semi-auto only raise in exchange for CCW.

None of this is acceptable. Breaking out AR or semi autos as a different legal category makes it that much easier to ban them if the shitlib hordesb ever seized power. And the second amendment is the only CCW permit anyone needs.

As to the second comment, tell that to people that are imprisoned for accidentally carrying across state lines into shitlib territory.

Reported to House with amendment(s) (12/04/2017)

Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act of 2017

(Sec. 2) This bill amends the federal criminal code to allow a qualified individual to carry a concealed handgun into or possess a concealed handgun in another state that allows individuals to carry concealed firearms.

A qualified individual must: (1) be eligible to possess, transport, or receive a firearm under federal law; (2) carry a valid photo identification document; and (3) carry a valid concealed carry permit issued by, or be eligible to carry a concealed firearm in, his or her state of residence.

Additionally, the bill specifies that a qualified individual who lawfully carries or possesses a concealed handgun in another state: (1) is not subject to the federal prohibition on possessing a firearm in a school zone, and (2) may carry or possess the concealed handgun in federally owned lands that are open to the public.

(Sec. 3) This bill does not prohibit a law enforcement officer with reasonable suspicion of a violation of any law from conducting a brief investigative stop in accordance with the U.S. Constitution.

(Sec. 4) It specifies that certain retired and off-duty law enforcement officers who are authorized to carry concealed firearms are not subject to the federal prohibitions on possessing or discharging a firearm in a school zone.

(Sec. 5) It permits a federal judge to carry a concealed firearm in any state if the judge is not prohibited from receiving a firearm under federal law.

actually fuck reciprocity. They need to force national CCW on everyone and set a standard but reasonable licensing protocol. But states rights!

I think I agree with this. From a constitutional perspective, nationwide CCW would probably be stronger.

Also, reciprocity would exclude people from lib states like yourself from carrying since "may issue" is a defacto ban.

Although, did you know you can apply (right now) for an out of state carry license in a place like New Hampshire? Would be lulzy if that sort of thing was the work around for people in lib states.

Edit: nm the draft bill says license from "state of residence."

i dont think that would fit within the reciprocity bill.

A qualified individual must: (1) be eligible to possess, transport, or receive a firearm under federal law; (2) carry a valid photo identification document; and (3) carry a valid concealed carry permit issued by, or be eligible to carry a concealed firearm in, his or her state of residence.

it would be kind of absurd if every visitor from Texas could carry concealed but residents could not. Might force a change in the direction under state law, but I am not holding my breath.

Wait the second clause of 3: "or be eligible to carry a concealed firearm in, his or her state of residence."

Eligibility is far broader than actual licensing. Sneaky

that's only if you are a cop or retired cop or judge or whatever.

it is not going to be interpreted as a circular justification - "since the law provides for reciprocity, my fake NH permit means I am eligible to carry a weapon in California"
