That's not how the real estate developers operate, anyone can buy a property, they don't layer for their customers (which would be pointless for the following reason), and they don't have obligations to conduct due diligence. |

There is no particular reason why the Russians would specifically need Trump to overlook due diligence, when no one is obligated to conduct any due diligence to begin with.
So, first of all, for the case to proceed, they would have to discover evidence of money laundering in Russia (a territory in which they don't have jurisdiction and the only incidence in which such activity was exposed was by a deceased whistleblower) and then on top of that due to the lack of KYC, they would have to somehow prove that Trump knowingly understood where the money was coming from. Of course, this doesn't make much sense, since he wouldn't need to ask in the first place. |
