i'm a sixth year at a market paying biglaw firm (incl. market bonus) in non-NYC/CA. got an in house job offer paying $200k plus $45k performance bonus.
firm is now offering me an annual $50k retention bonus to stay which will continue every year until I am up for partnership. section chair and administrative chair have told me i am "golden" for partnership if I want it, but I assume that's BS to get me to stay and grind out hours.
any reason at all to stay at firm over chill in house job?
law school debt has been paid off, married but no kids and no plans to have them so not sure how much we really need the extra income.
