Anti-Blackness comes from the idea that black people do not get to be full people in the world as a whole. It’s the idea that black people are discriminated against globally---not just here in the United States. This is seen thru policies, black face, darker skinned people being treated worse in most societies worldwide. |

Hook:
Distribute some sort of candy or snack to a student. Tell them not to eat it and that they’ll be able to soon because it’s their snack. They own it, and it has always been there. Introduce that today we’ll be discussing colonialism and its effects on Africa. Then before beginning, subtly wander over to the student who you have candy to, and subtly eat the food, and tell the student to stand up and take their chair to sit in. Pause for the student’s reaction. Ask the class what I just did and was it justified? Note reactions on white board, and note that at a very basic and less violent level, that was a way of looking at colonialism. |
