Perception is exactly what it appears to be. It is representation of the subject in the object. What isn't lucid is actually the "thing in itself", which isn't perceived but is a force that permeates all of life (what Schopenhauer referred to as the will).

Can we truly trust the basis of all logical thought. Descartes I think therefore I am, or are we in fact misguided by the great demon?

We can only trust it insofar as it explains the world as our representation. But it's for this reason that scientific materialism has no end game and can never be the boon that modern progressives make it out to be. The materialist tries to seek the explanation for how we came about from the basest and most primitive form of matter by tracing the lines of causality to our current state. But the existence of this matter presupposes our knowledge and understanding of it, which is the only coherent starting point for the external reality of objects. The world as we know it didn't exist until the first conscious eye gazed upon it.

“You know what’s strange, Ro? When you go to a place you’ve never been before, where it’s like all the people were imaginary until you got there. It’s like until you saw them, they never existed. And you never existed to them.”

Will there be answers at the edge of our reality. If we can ever go until we can go no further will we see that there is something beyond or will we see we are in fact imprisoned

"It is representation of the subject in the object."

Can you expand on this? Maybe more accessibly than Schopenhauer does.

Distinguish the way things truly are from the way we perceive them.

We perceive the world through the lens of space, time, matter and causality.

These categories may not exist for other perceptual beings and do not exist in things as they truly are.

Basically, the subject and object cannot exist independently of each other, a concept that many thinkers got wrong from the beginning. It has been popular to say that the world of objects exists independently of any subject, which is impossible. The entire world of perception is simply the division of the subject and the object. There are four classes of objects: space, time, matter and concepts. All matter is simply time moving through space according to causality, and causality is the original a priori of all understanding, human and animal. Humans alone have concepts (abstract reasoning). But none of this has any coherent meaning without the subject and it's representation in the object, which is what all matter is. The will or will-to-live is what operates outside of this domain and what explains all of human and animal behavior below the pure intellect.

I'm having trouble with the following: "All matter is simply time moving through space according to causality . . . " Seems like something that could be illustrated visually.

also why do we distinguish concepts from matter? don't they arise out of matter (brain tissue)? or don't we at least not know whether they arise out of matter?
