Youtube used to have it's own insular, 'internet' culture to it

In the late 00s or so, there was a handful of popular videos every year that everyone on youtube had seen and they became 'viral'

Now 'viral videos' are spread around instagram, facebook, twitter, etc. Youtube doesn't really have a monopoly on this anymore.

Youtube has shifted from having it's own culture to being a video sharing website for popular culture. The top videos are talk show clips, youtube personalities, music videos, sports, etc. Whereas the top videos used to be things like Charlie Bit My Finger, Keyboard Cat, Nyan Cat, Evolution of Dance, Numa Numa, White and Nerdy.

Kinda weird how this happened.

I'm sure customized feeds have become a part of this, whereas many suggestions used to be based off view count.

Yes regrettably, it's true, standards have fallen in adult entertainment. It's video, Dude. Now that we're competing with the amateurs, we can't afford to invest in little extras like story, production value, feelings.

All internet culture has changed after normies flooded in and kikes figured out how to monetize it. Everything sucks now.
