Dress code violations
Offering CC staff tips/offering to pay when CC only allows account charges
Driving up to CC with golf clubs in pickup truck rattling around
Spending 20 minutes in woods looking for a ball b/c you’re too cheap to lose it
Wearing hunting or sport srain gear when it rains
Going double or nothing on bets because you dont’ have the cash. Also, doing IOUs or trying to apply other debts to golfing debts. (“All right, I owe you $15, but gas for the ride here was $5 per person.”)
Playing with way worn out grips or clubs that clearly were demos
Costco clubs (balls are OK)
Metal spikes (used to be cool but now just a sign you got your spikes at a thirft shop or from grandpa)

Follow traditional golf etiquette and play quickly. You can look and talk like a construction worker or dress like a Rickie Fowler clown for all I care. Drinking is fine too. We always throw back whiskey or a beer or two during our non-club weekend rounds. So long as you don't get legit drunk and act like an idiot, it's no big deal.
The truth is most golfers aren't pretentious clothmos like the dudes posting above, but are chill, generally good doods who love the game and enjoy meeting others who feel the same. |
