If you ever had a desire to live in NYC, you'd be better of doing it in your 20s. Once 30s and family responsibilities hit, you'll be priced out of NYC (at least the places worth living in). |

If equal, and if you really have upside to earn $400k working 40ish hours a week within 2-5 years, then I would say NYC is not a bad option. But SD is hard to beat in terms of weather, women, and lifestyle. A million dollar home in SD is still >>>>> one in the NYC area.
