I need something for smart people to blow off steam with.
Needs to run in under an hour, preferably 30 min. Should work with 3-5 people — you may assume 4. Needs to be light but must also have strategic depth. In particular non-interactive shit like Dominion or Race for the Galaxy is a no go. Needs to be relatively easy to pick up.
Your thoughts please?

Obviously Settlers of Catan would be perfect for your use case, but if you're asking this question you've probably already played it.
El Grande or 7 Wonders would be good, but I'm not sure they are interactive enough for you. Players interact with each other in those games but its not as interactive as a trade-based game like Settlers of Catan.
There's a million games "like" Puerto Rico, if Puerto Rico is sufficiently interactive for your weirdly outgoing and extroverted group of Eurogamers.
