Jack White/White Stripes/Raconteurs is the best answer to OP when considered from an influence or rock history perspective. Love the Strokes, but they were basically has-beens by 2008 and Jack White was still on top. Jack White could still drop a huge record today easily and no one would bat an eye.
But those linkin park sales numbers are absurd, and I like the Muse argument in terms of music post Napster being less measured by record sales and radio spins and more about touring. LJL at anyone saying Coldplay—the bitchmade soft rock of the Bush years that symbolized cuck and beta males, with a sound that boomers and Gen X sell outs could agree on. |
