Sekulow said Sunday that diGenova will not be joining the legal team after all.

"The President is disappointed that conflicts prevdent Joe diGenova and Victoria Toensing from joining the President's Special Counsel legal team. However, those conflicts do not prevent them from assisting the President in other legal matters. The President looks forward to working with them," Sekulow said in a statement to CNN's Evan Perez.

DiGenova and his wife and law partner, Victoria Toensing, met with Trump last week, the sources said. But the husband-and-wife legal team run a small firm, and there is a question if DiGenova can reasonably claim a lack of conflict when his wife represents clients like Mark Corrallo, who has spoken to Mueller's team about how Trump and his team responded to the revelations about a June 2016 Trump Tower meeting that Donald Trump Jr. and other campaign officials had with a group of Russians, according to two sources.

Toensing also represents former Trump campaign national co-chair Sam Clovis, who has faced scrutiny for his connection to campaign foreign policy team member George Papadopoulos, two sources said.

Trump's ex-lead lawyer for the Mueller probe John Dowd raised the issue of DiGenova & Toensing's conflict to the legal team before he quit. Toensing asked her clients to sign conflict waivers but that may not be sufficient to assuage the concerns.

I'm starting to think there's a fair chance Trump might resign before the mid-terms. I used to think it was less than a 10% chance, but now I think it might be as much as 40%. He's completely boxed in, with few options remaining now.

curious definition of the country burning. We've certainly improved economically since Obama (not saying that's entirely the causal effect of Trump policies) - but many Dems seem to think we're in the midst of a disaster simply due to the news bombardment without a larger perspective of what defines success.

E.g. I'm sure most blacks would prefer to roll the clock back to Obama admin - despite the wage increases and record lows for black unemployment rates recently achieved.
