Mine made me take off/put back on all 4 tires and change my own oil before he ever gave me keys. He also would do things like purposefully leave the lights on the lawn mower to drain the battery out and then make me jump start it the next day when I had to mow, steal the fuses controlling the car radio and power windows on my car so I had to replace them, unscrewed my room's doorknobs a few times so I had to put them back on, siphoned all the gas out of the car when he noticed I was running it on E so I'd learn not to do it again, cut the circuit breaker and turned the water off before he and mom would leave so I knew how to turn it back on and other "tricks" to get me to learn to do stuff on my own. At the time I found them annoying but looking back it was 180 and I realize just how many "men" can't do basic shit. You have been struggling with changing a tire for the last 45 minutes. You are stressed out, tired, and your hands are sore. Failure to appreciate why this situation creates a risk of fucking up, especially when the situation calls for a high level of exertion, is precisely why there is a relatively high probability that people with no experience working on cars will fuck up.
Just to clarify, when I say a relatively high risk of fucking up, I don't mean it is likely you will fuck up, but given the potential consequences of fucking up when doing this type of work on your car, a very low probability of a fuck up in an absolute sense still represents a situation that is best avoided.
Then we get into the risks of doing this for the first time on the side of the road. That is a perfect recipe for someone absent mindedly stepping out in front of traffic driving by. |

put the jack under the car (make sure it is against solid metal), pump it up, then use the wrench to remove the lugnuts, put the spare in its place, and secure it by re-inserting and tightening the lugnuts. |

Good luck getting the lug nuts loose with the car jacked up. Loosen slightly first, then jack. I went apeshit on a tech for installing my lug nuts with an impact gun. I am super OCD about lugnuts. I even have the stuff to do centerlock wheels and somewhere there is a brass hammer to do true knock offs. |
