It's the one path to decent money without incurring massive debt, of course they want to (((shut it down))) by importing as many Pradeeps as possible.

high end EE is going to be tops forever, although you'll see some wage depression at the low end of the market since they're easily replaced by chink/turdbots

Civil will be replaced by AI in 20 years or less, so hang a shingle if you have your stamp and start a small firm doing subcontracts to megafirms while you still can.

Mech should be the same to slightly better at all levels.

Probably much more secure than some engineers, since they're on the plant floor and actually understand the practical aspects of production and design. A good technician can make a bad design work, and a bad tech can fuck up a good design just as easily. Definitely not a bad field to get into for people who can't hack a 4 year school.

UG, this site saved me from going to Lawl School. I dropped out of engineering freshman year and went polisci for 2 years then saw the light and now bank a chill $90k in a tertiary market with a company car and sick bennys. Will probably do a night school MBA in the next 2-3 years just because company will pay for it, then cop a promotion to management.

Fluid mechanics with non-newtonian fluids. I went into basically chem eng, but with little to no knowledge of actual chemistry. I just troubleshoot on site but have enough knowledge that I can program simulations of what's happening and why something is fucked.

Great paragraph:

The nature of STEM work has also changed dramatically in the past several decades. In engineering, for instance, your job is no longer linked to a company but to a funded project. Long-term employment with a single company has been replaced by a series of de facto temporary positions that can quickly end when a project ends or the market shifts. To be sure, engineers in the 1950s were sometimes laid off during recessions, but they expected to be hired back when the economy picked up. That rarely happens today. And unlike in decades past, employers seldom offer generous education and training benefits to engineers to keep them current, so out-of-work engineers find they quickly become technologically obsolete.
