pddj was talking about all these private school kids being coddled, and how at her flagship state, there was no coddling and nobody gives a fuck about you and there's no support structure to make sure you dont flunk out or have whatever other stupid made-up problem you may have and how administrators are all mean and couldn't care less to help you.

is it like this at most state schools, or are some worse than others?

we were talking about which is better for kids. she said big state "builds character in the goy sense," but that coddled private school helps make you succeed more.

if you're in the honors program at flagship state u then you'll get some more special treatment/attention or in a smaller/insular major then you're taking classes with the same people and the admins in your college know you.

If you're a bio major or something, then you're just a face in the crowd.

it's a different type of "character."

for goyim "building character" is letting your kid struggle and realize that the world sucks and you're just a piece of shit prole and there's nothing you can do about.

for a jew, "building character" is teaching your kid that he's the best and he fight and get what he wants and if he wants to be successful he can maek it.

Their comparative advantage is their low cost. Private schools are looking to maximize USNews with 4 year graduation rate. They don't actively hold your hand and suck your cock at state school. But you can go to office hours and get help it's there. So if you can afford it do private for the grade inflation but obv if you live IRL and can't drop $200K on college just do state obv.

there is a path to graduating at any big state school that involves less work than virtually any other school. i got a poli sci degree from an SEC school with probably 40 hours total of classroom attendance over 4 years. it is virtually impossible to not graduate with a 3.0 in some liberal arts degree if you just remember to show up to the final and/or submit some 6 page drivel term paper.

the flipside is that with this path out there, it was really hard for my engineering and pre-med bros to maintain their discipline so a lot of them burned out

I'm not saying it's worth that. There's just no one to tell you the shit you should be doing along the way to set yourself up for exit.

I guess. I did get a couple of As in my upper level courses, and no one seemed to care.

Conversely, my wife attended a private and got an email freshman year from the econ chair urging her to join the major after she got an A in micro.

In my experience it was more like 100 people in a lecture hall class with 400 people registered for the class.
