and all youve got is your own conclusion that "It's MURDER!" and some pictures.
Letting people who have terminal cancer have all the morphine they want is your sort of "MURDER" too, dimwits.
Engaging in a war where innocent people are gonna die as civilian casualties is your sort of "MURDER" too, dimwits

And that's the trap.
1. You can't acknowledge that it's the killing of a person because it cannot be supported politically or maybe legally if you do so.
2. Linking unborn babies to people killed in war is no bueno. Hiroshima was necessary to bring the end to an awful war and the bombing was made as part of the war effort, what comparable necessity exists for killing un-offending unborn babies. Also, there is debate about the morality of it (I think it is fine, but I acknowledge the argument that it was not - area bombing by the allies in WWII is one of those topics that the morality of it is not often discussed).
3. ""PERSONHOOD" is probably not going to be an all-or-nothing assignment here." (Justice Roger Taney)
4. It's the killing of a person but justified is NOT the argument in favor of legal abortion. Ever. It's always mushmouth about women's rights, patriarchy, or other empty bullshit.
5. Most thinking people think that the extra-judicial killing of a child is morally disgusting. Hell, most thinking people think that the judicial killing of convicted felon adults is morally disgusting.

of course.
here's one reason, quite straightforward: I dont want a bunch more dependents on the fucking dole, breaking into my car, etc, crying "Imma single mom" and "Darnell good keed".
A second reason is the principle that people should have some measured autonomy over their own bodies. NOTE THE FUCKING MODIFIERS HERE.

i made two points.
Point one--i dont want more welfare dependent single mothers and i dont want more poorly raised buckwilds committing crimes.
Point two: bodily integrity of women is something that on balance and in balance needs to be protected.
those are my two points. do i need to say them again before you will respond substantively without making a strawman of my arguments?

well, we'll see about that.
the argument that seems to work for now is that up to a certain point the fetus is not able to live on its own without medical care and maintenance. and there's a point where it would be able to live on its own if it received additional care for a while.
It will be interesting when we reach a point in technological progress where the fetus can be raised from a clump of cells in an artificial uterus. but i suspect at that point christers will be less of a nuisance than now anyway.

It's got nothing to do with Christianity other than the fact that at the time this was being debated, the most prominent intellectuals were Christians. This is one of the few times that Christian morality lines up with what I'll cal.
Even with your argument that a fetus is unable to live on its own without medical care and maintenance, that applies to children under probably 10-12 years old! They can't cook for themselves, change their own diapers, etc.
What also of those on life support after an accident or disease, are they also undeserving of life since they can't sustain themselves?

i didnt make the argument, friend. i pointed out that so-called "viability" IS a rationale for line drawing at present. it certainly is not perfect, but where and how to draw the line is a different question from should a line be drawn somewhere.
Profound stuff. i hope you can follow.
and yes, its mostly christers of various ilk who are antiabortmos at present. also, i imagine there's a fair group of atheist incels who feel the same way, for reason ive already elucidated.
