Ppl here who don't try cases don't realize what gutless stupid sheep the vast majority of judges are.
And if you're going to have a body like that decide cases, it seems kind of cool and democratic (demarchic?) to have them be regular people more-or-less randomly selected, and *forced* to work -- so you don't just get the self-selected (and self-important) IRL gunners who voluntarily sign up for shit like that.
Think about how much better our POTUSes/Senators/etc. would be if the primary filter for getting to that level weren't naked ambition, shameless self-promotion, and tireless striving. |
