Brother in-law facing pound me in the ass prison

He is now facing a slew of charges and they are not offering him a plea deal - his now ex wife wants them to throw the book at him. Best guess is he will have to serve at least 5 years in prison. But no one really knows.
This guy is not close to anyone - he just cut off his family and has no real friends. He does have around $2M in cash and a house. What would you do? Suffer through prison and then do what for a job? He is 43 and a former software engineer/manager who flipped houses on the side. He has talked about moving to Asia and just bailing. If I was in his situation I would give serious consideration to moving to Thailand. What would you do? |

Id get involved in a serious mental health program asap. Show the judge and state that you are seriously ill and taking recovery seriously. Meanwhile, have an expensive divorce lawyer with a good PI dig up didrt on the ex-wife / victim to show the state she had all kinds of motive to lie and would make a shitty victim on the stand. You should get probation with all kinds of mental health requirements.
If i were *really* going to prison for 5 years and had no family, Id consider bailing.... If it were 10+ years Id for sure bail. Put that 2 mill in the trunk and drive to Argentina. |

He is in denial about his situation and fired his lawyer. Doesn't want to claim he is mentally ill. The last I heard his defense was he was on ambien and had not been sleeping because he was distraught over the recent death of his mom. His last lawyer said that he got some guy off using the Ambien defense. |
