Belfast is a realistic day trip from Dublin and vice versa. I bet there's a lot of long distance biking if that's the kind of outdoorsy you are.
How do you feel about, say, ancient ruins? Ireland has some great iron age ruins in the countryside. How do you feel about history museums? Dublin has some great ones. |

Get the hell out of town. Go to Galway, hike the Cliffs of Moher, take the Ferry to the Aran Islands. It’s beautiful in the countryside.
My favorite thing was going to Newgrange, this burial mound just north of Dublin, super easy trip. Thing is older than the pyramids and designed so the tomb only gets light on the winter solstice- some real Indiana Jones shit. You can go inside and they’ll stage a recreation of how it works on the winter solstice. You won’t regret it.
Ireland is cool, really enjoyed it. Very small and pretty easy to get around. |
