explain

I don't really drive and didn't own a car until a couple of days ago. I just bought a house that needs repairs, so I am got a beater 1998 Honda Civic for 6 months so I can ferry supplies from the Home Depot a mile away from my house. I will not be using the car for any other purposes.

Just redid the quote with $500k bodily injury liability coverage and $500k property damage coverage. Now $41.26 per month (or $217 for 6 months). Is that enough coverage to prevent me getting fuct?

The CLSG rule is 1M more than your assets. So you're at the minimum for someone who's flat broke.

Geico isn't even close to the worst. I settle cases with them for decent money.

Mercury, Progressive, State Farm, Allstate, Alliance United, Kemper, and Mapre are all TERRIBLE

Decent ones are Geico, Farmers, AAA, Wawanesa

Great ones are Liberty Mutual, Nationwide, Travelers, Chubb

does any of this matter from a consumer's perspective? any reason not to get bunch of quotes for whatever limits and other services you want, and just go with the cheapest?

That doesn't mean much without specifying your coverage, among other things.

For example, that doesn't strike me as a particularly good deal for a person with good credit who is only buying state-minimum insurance.
