Humans, just 0.01% of all life, have eradicated 83% of mammalian life.

Humans are also rapidly degrading the global environment to a point where it will no longer be sustainable/inhabitable and doom the planet and most of its species.

we definitely are, but who cares? if the rest of the animals have a problem with it, maybe they should do something about it

until then, we're gonna keep doing whatever we want

Perhaps there's an argument to be made for maintaining biodiversity and not irreparably harming a natural order that has promoted environmental health and balance for all time before the arrival of humans.

i used to think like this too. but there's no such thing as a "natural order." the world is in a constant state of change, with all living things struggling to survive

if the "natural order" couldn't handle humans, it would have killed us off already. and there's still plenty of time for it to happen - we've only been around for a tiny fraction of the planet's history

"not irreparably harming a natural order that has promoted environmental health and balance for all time before the arrival of humans."

Humans are part of the "natural order." If "natural order" is good for its own sake, we should do what we do and not worry about it.

The planet has had many waves of mass extinction. Mass extinctions, for lack of a better word, are good. Mass extinctions clarify, cut through, and capture the essence of the evolutionary spirit.

Every animal expands until checked by disease, a predator or finite resources.

We are just so dominant and resourceful it's more challenging to check our expansion.
