As OP noted, the editors were good about being precise in their terms when specifying who the members are of this caste as they define it. They do a good job of calling out the bourgeoisie for its hypocrisy. They also flatter their readers by implying that they themselves are members of this Elite Class of amazing, Meritorious persons, even though most of their readers are probably liberal artists who cannot get ahold of $500 in the event of an emergency.
