You'd also likely get free domestic upgrades on many routes and not be burning 35k miles.

For #1, some airports are noticeably slower than others at getting your checked bags out to the baggage claim. As an example--I fly to the west coast a lot, and SJC generally has a quick turnaround but SFO is a goddamn nightmare.
For #2, if I'm not upgraded, sometimes I like to sit in the bulkhead row - otherwise I'm in an exit row - sometimes it's right behind the lavatory (some AA A321 configurations are like this). It can be a pain in the ass fitting both pieces of luggage into the overhead bin near my seat. |
