We have this discussion in the tennis threads a lot re the Australian Open. My contention is always that there is a slight negative given to an Aussie-heavy major total, and that if you're gonna miss out on winning a major, it should probably be the Aussie.
Same with golf? If a guy has only 3 majors and they are all PGAs it's a bit of a negative, right? Likewise, does anyone care if someone is missing the PGA? Does anyone EVER mention that neither Palmer nor Watson won the PGA? |

Take Spieth for example. Is there really a benefit to him winning the PGA right now over any of the other 3 majors? I've always felt the career grand slam was a bit more of a fiction in golf. In tennis it's a bit more important because of surface differences. |
