They need to double the amount of MDs. Fucking criminal that this isn't brought up more.
I would've been a doctor if you didn't have to sell your soul for 15 years just to prescribe zpacks.

No but there should be extreme vetting on any institution benefiting from tax exempt status. Its a joke that our tax dollars are being used to support places like cooley, or left wing think tanks like harvard.
Im ok with a school having the right to be a left wing think tank, but it should be treated like any for profit instituuon

"There's no cost-benefit analysis *now* with student loans"
I disagree and a number of TTTs have failed due to low enrollment. That is the system working. The key is to increase the factors that lead to this, not decrease them. The problem with your approach is that it removes all responsibility from the people deciding to attend. That is retarded. The people who should overwhelmingly be on the hook are a) the student and b) the school. Society as a whole should bear little risk to whether or not you or I attend or not.
"and causing economic hardship on someone pulling in a modest income, for example, isn't benefiting them or the school"
Sure it is. It a) recoups some of the money, and b) serves as a warning to others not to make bad choices. This is why I completely oppose your approach.
"Just let them keep their money and invest it or something, not have to give it to the school."
No. Make them pay their debts and the costs they incurred. If they didn't like it they shouldn't have incurred it.

That seems wrong, particularly since you're on a board full of people that paid back their student debt and are doing well (including myself and my wife). Make good choices and pay your debt.
Employers are paying the salaries of the people that incurred the debt which allows them to pay that back. Seems to be working fine.
The only people not paying their fair share are the schools, which need to be liable for their failures.

No, but there should definitely be more short track programs for MDs (and maybe even JDs) like they have in Europe.
Maybe give kids 1 year to be sure and then open up an MD specific program that cuts it down to 4-5 years more. Get that JD done in 3 years (4 years total)
