Foot-eye coordination is a totally different skill set than hand-eye. And the primary physical attribute for basketball - height - is arguably a hindrance for soccer

We DO have potential Messi's and Renaldildo's, they just never play soccer. They play football and basektball and are mediocre to great and then get old and quit.
That doesn't mean that the actual NBA, NFL, MLB all stars would be our great soccer players; though I bet quite a few mediocre college/pro football WR/DB's would.
