I know you are making a political point. But consider who really put the kid in that position-- his parents. Our government shouldn't be in the position of forgiving the actions of the parents just because it is sad for the kids. We don't say, "Maybe we shouldn't put this guy in jail for armed robbery because it will be hard on his kids." Our government is supposed to govern and take care of US citizens. US citizens are hurt by allowing illegal immigration to continue unabated. There is sadness there too (lost jobs, lower wages, etc.), but we choose not to focus on it. Enough Mexicans get the message that we mean business in trying to stop illegal immigration and it could cause separation from their kids, they might begin to approach coming here differently (e.g., try to immigrate legally).
