So Stock market is basically flat in 2018 because Trump is a retard?

This tariff bullshit is killing my 401k plans. We would be at 5-10% growth in S&P after the 4% GDP growth and blowing away earnings.
Why can’t he shut the fuck about Trade and let the market be?

It has more with short term rates moving up and issues with Italy potentially leaving the Eurozone more than anything.
Markets move first, news moves second. Interest rates and currencies can move markets quickly.

Italy I will grant you
But literally everyone with a pulse knew rates were going up. No way hikes move the market when it was projected last year and reaffirmed in every Fed meeting
The daily slumps are in direct response to fears of a Trade war on news that China is retaliating with non-tariffs measures now, which is literally the worst case scenario

WRT to the rates - I see what you are saying here but the thing is man - I know this is a big cliche for Wall Street but the market does not reflect changes until they actually happen.
They could have been flapping gums about it for months or years, but until that rate is actually adjusted, the pull process it creates on the monetary system does not occur - once the rate gets adjusted all the stuff tied to it begins to reset and actually pulls the money in which causes selling at the margins and thus lower prices.
It took me almost a decade on the markets to understand and appreciate this.
