The war in Syria wasn't caused by Europe. Whatever propaganda you are referring to was an appeal to morals and empathy to aid alleged victims of a foreign conflict. Here, the US is the cause of the harm by unnecessarily implementing a policy that is harmful to children. No one is saying let's just let them all in (maybe some shitlibs are saying this).
Polar bear analogy is inapposite.

It is without question objectively harmful to a child to be separated from his/her otherwise fit parent. |

Their parents got arrested for sneaking into a foreign country and this is part of the process. There's probably a better way to deal with the separation, but this isn't what libs are trying to argue here. What libs are really doing is using a type of pathos that automatically "wins" the immigration debate by appealing to a universal belief that we shouldn't hurt children. Everyone already believes this, so instead of presenting some kind of immigration policy they're just reminding us of how we feel about this vague and tangential issue. No one wants to take the opposing side of anti-children's rights, but that's the corner they've labeled us in now if we want to have a border like a real country. If trump were to put these families in a nice hotel together and then promptly drive them right back to mexico, libs would be just as mad. |
