He has no musicality. As far as I am aware all he did was use the V7#9 chord as the basis of all his improvising.

This is the wrongest thing that has ever been posted on the internet. The 7#9 chord was really only prominent in a couple of “popular” tracks to create an effect. His real musicianship is incredibly evident if you listen to anything except the first few seconds of Purple Haze.

What do you mean by 'create an effect'? Any real musician should know his diminished and melodic minor scales.

A. Hendrix did. Just listen.

B. And music is not just math. It’s not “I know more scales than you and can do faster arpeggios than you”: If it was, autists without any real sense of music like Malmsteen would be thought of as great guitarists. But as it is, only autists and basement teen wannabe shredders rate Malmsteen.

Why do you keep bringing arpeggios into this? I guarantee any entry level guitarist at a conservatorium is already a better guitar player than Hendrix.

Guarantee this is the second wrongest thing ever written on the internet. His technical skills were so advanced at the time they blew everyone away. But it’s not about technical skills alone is my point, it’s about the music you create with those skills and your inherent creativity and sense of musicality. On that level, very very few people touch Hendrix.

Great track. I certainly rate SRV highly and recognize this straight away as a cover of the SRV version, not the Hendrix version (the phrasing, the little scrapes at the start). But Hendrix created it, and created it better. He was GOAT POTUS for this kind of music.

The best Hendrix stuff isn’t the well known stuff like Purple Haze, it’s the stuff where he is playing more blues and similar. Voodoo Chile Slight Return bores me, but Voodoo Chile the blues jam is incredible, for example. Also some of the stuff he was recording in the studio just before he died. Incredibly musical.

Little Wing is maybe the GOAT guitar track, obviously.

Little Wing is the GOAT of the classic electric guitar, by this I mean the stuff that came out of the 60s when everything became electrified.

It’s beautiful and complex and instinctively musical to a level of very few other tracks. I mean I grew up with Van Halen and they still give me a hard on but they never came anywhere near Hendrix in Little Wing for complexity and beauty.
