Your betters are to be feared and worshiped and your lessers are to be exploited and derided. You notice this EXACT behaviour on xo, and none of you can deny being a part of it! SCORES of threads mocking proles, and on top of it, threads worshiping the wealthy wherein we list subtle Tells of the Upper Class, all of which are flattering and obsequious as fuck. You've all internalised this whether you will admit it or not. Money seems to motivate everything but it's not just that, it's this covetousness and greed being instilled in everyone. Somehow, leaving your hometown in order to get a "job" and make useless money is more important than anything. Money is so useless that you literally need millions of dollars for it to be worth anything. And we backwards-rationalise our single-minded pursuit of money with Lies like, "I need to be a multimillionaire to escape niggers/violence for myself and my children!" or we just mock proles while giving ourselves a pat on the back. Agreed. We're a society that derives an extraordinary amount of its self-worth from work and wealth. Because of the way the modern economy operates, a lot of people are falling into depressive and anti-social states (drug abuse, depression, failure to connect with others) as they fail to meet the lofty expectations that our society has set out for them. These anti-social behaviors are an issue everywhere in the first world, but I'd argue that the US is far worse in contending with the modern economy because of its aversion to the type of redistributive polices that would restore communities. I fear that the American worship of work, wealth, and individualism will prevent us from ever responding intelligently to the modern economy. |
