brainless “hodl” posting should be punished by live burial or perhaps a vicious lead pipe beating tbh

Same but early January. Felt the same regret and self loathing when I was down like 80% on sonm last year but somehow that trade worked out great a few months later. We’ll see what unfolds in the next year

i mean my bank accout could be ~$350,000 bigger if i’d cashed out at the absolute peak. it feels just as bad as someone stealing $350,000 i already had. unlike ppl here i don’t arbitrarily think about “house money” any differently than other money.

i would pay for video of someone beating the fuck out of retards being retardedly optimistic about “coins” that have literally no real value proposition

If you had any real money in December you still probably bought in early-mid 2017 so cut a nice 40% short term cap gains tax off those profits. Granted your probably down 80-90% today but it's worth waiting for a recovery from here with 10% taxes

Croesus is a rich king in ancient Lydia who is quite enamored with his own wealth. When the wise man Solon comes to visit his kingdom, Croesus asks Solon if he had ever seen greater opulence than his own. Solon replies that birds like peacocks are incomparable in their beauty. Croesus disagrees, and he tries to impress Solon with a list of vanquished foes and claimed territories. Solon still disagrees, telling Croesus that the happiest man he had ever met was a peasant in Athens. He explains that the peasant worked hard, raised a family, and was content with what he had. Croesus takes this as an insult and Solon leaves.

Soon after Solon's departure, tragedy befalls Croesus. His oldest son is killed in a hunting accident, and then Emperor Cyrus invades. Cyrus' army is triumphant, and Croesus' kingdom is ravaged and Croesus himself is captured and ordered to be executed. As Croesus is about to be burned on a pyre, he cries out Solon's name. Cyrus stops the pyre to hear what Croesus has to say. Croesus relates Solon's story to Cyrus, and Cyrus is moved by the notion that Fate can bring misery to a rich man and happiness to a poor man. Croesus is freed and the emperor and the king become good friends.

"The observation of the numerous misfortunes that attend all conditions forbids us to grow insolent upon our present enjoyments, or to admire a man's happiness that may yet, in the course of time, suffer change. This farmer had only one horse, and one day the horse ran away. The neighbors came to condole over his terrible loss. The farmer said, "What makes you think it is so terrible?"

A month later, the horse came home--this time bringing with her two beautiful wild horses. The neighbors became excited at the farmer's good fortune. Such lovely strong horses! The farmer said, "What makes you think this is good fortune?"

The farmer's son was thrown from one of the wild horses and broke his leg. All the neighbors were very distressed. Such bad luck! The farmer said, "What makes you think it is bad?"

A war came, and every able-bodied man was conscripted and sent into battle. Only the farmer's son, because he had a broken leg, remained. The neighbors congratulated the farmer. "What makes you think this is good?" said the farmer.

i offered 92k on some modest real estate and got a counter of 95.

If I'd taken it, I'd have had about 2k left in checking after cashing out everything. I thought "that's not enough, I can't take this now, gonna wait. maybe a couple more paychecks." Business was slowing down at my old job, and in weak months I wouldn't get a $500 monthly bonus.

This was March 7th. A week later I got my paycheck with bonus. The price of ETH at that time is obviously a matter of public record, and I live in a 400 sq ft studio

Personally I view this entire market cycle as a valuable learning experience. I realize it sounds like a lame post-hoc rationalization, but before crypto I'd never owned an equity of any type and knew nothing about markets or trading.

It seems obvious now to sell during a blow-off top, but until you've actually experienced it it's very easy to get caught up in the bullish euphoria or get hung up on details like finding the best tax strategy before selling. I'm not worried or depressed or anything because I believe in crypto long term and will now be prepared for the next bull market.
