The politics of the late 60s were also pretty radically leftist, but that led to Nixon and then Reagan. What happened?
I guess two things: Boomers aged out of adolescence and the end of the war in Vietnam drained leftism of the support of people who were more naturally centrist.
Millennials are old enough now that shitlib stuff is not just a campus concern, though. They are almost 30. And its getting more intense, not less, as they age.
So I dont know what will cause any cultural retreat. |

2. the left/right split today is far far more racially divided and the country is more diverse
