My parents-in-law are rich and my FIL is of political import. They do Viking cruises. But tbf they are also frugal people and almost in their 80s so i dunno what that means about Viking.

Me and wife don't know anything about cruises; shit on them non-stop.

WATERWAYS OF THE TSARS is a 13 day cruise from St. Petersburg to Moscow, over such celebrated Russian internal waterways as LAKE LADOHA, LAKE ONEGA, THE VOLGA-BALTIC CANAL, and the RYBINSK RESERVOIR

There are stops at Yaroslavl, Uglich, and of course Kuzino where you can see the Kirillo-Belozersky Monastery and visit a children's school (to adopt an orphan, I guess?)

all for just $5,799 per person for the cheapest ticket

French Balconies. French Balconies look and act like a regular balcony, with the only exception being that there is a railing placed directly behind the glass, meaning you cannot step out onto a separate space — without splashing into the river, that is.

Okay IMPERIAL JEWELS OF CHINA is kind of a fraud because its 14 days long but only 7 of those days are on a cruise!

They fly you out to Beijing, you spend 4 days there including a Peking Duck Dinner. Then they fly you out to Xi'an for three days, again, all on land. Finally they fly you to Chongqing where you actually get on a boat on the Yangtze River and take a 7-day cruise by the Three Gorges Dam visiting Wuhan en route to Shanghai.

This starts at just $3,999 for the cheapest room.

but even more of a fraud is ROOF THE WORLD, which is 17 days of which only 7 are on a cruise! It's sitting here in a cruise catalog and less than half of it is an actual cruise.

It's the same as above, but after Xi'an they fly you to Lhasa for three days. Then on to Chongqing and the 7-day cruise up to Yangtze to Shanghai.

Many of these cruises offer LECTURES where a learned scholar boards the ship and talks about a particular subject

Many of the French cruises offer a lecture on Joan of Arc or French impressionists. The Budapest to Bucharest one offers a lecture on "the myth of Dracula".

The Bourdeaux-based French cruises offer classes from a master sommelier. The Elbe River cruises offers no lectures, but there is a baroque chamber music group that performs.
