They continue to induct about 40 per year. There is no resource constraint on the PAK-FA.
Russian jet procurement matches Chinese procurement on a nominal defense budget that is 1/3 the size. The Chicoms have a bloated manpower problem and not enough kit. |

If we were fielding tricked out F-15's and 16's and not the F-35, I'd be concerned. But as it stands, the F-35 is a generational leap for which they don't have an answer.
And probably still won't 5-7 years from now. For better or worse, PAK FA is their only hope. But it is increasingly clear that it's a long shot. Real long...

All the radars over the US are commercial grade. Same for Europe. Flankers should have an easy time of it on day zero before NATO runs 24/7 CAPs. The reality is NATO is built up to project into Russia. There is basically no defensive setup over Europe or the US. If the Russkies go zero-day their initial strikes are going un-opposed. Its an open question whether they have the C4I for a knockout. NATO thinks they dont because their sat coverage is insufficient. NATO is an offensive alliance.
