If he researched enough to write a political book about China he should know Chinese troops marching to retake the square killed civilians fighting them around the city but once at the square amnesty was offered to the students who took it. There was no massacre in the square and more importantly of students, just ordinary working people, which is a major reason why it has faded in China. Just from that excerpt I don't have much confidence in the time he spent to analyze and come up with insights. |

Accuracy is only one problem. I get the sense from that excerpt that he just throws together the worst reports true or not or exaggerated about commie government. The result is a tirade, not analysis. |

The even bigger problem is what is implied in his casual treatment of facts with important implications in government relations. If he doesnt care and just uses one sided junk I doubt he has many insights to make in the book. |
