Seems like the end of the steroid era has seen a real drop out of the 'replacement player', at least as understood by the counting stats that capture the imagination of casual fans.
For Trout, the thing that sucks (at least for his popularity among casual fans) is that casual fans have the memory of MacGwire, and Sosa, and Bonds. Is to really capture the imagination of the casual fan, he has to do something that seems impressive relative to those guys, not relative to his post-steroid era contemporaries. |
