Fair point.
Back in the day, having an industrial jerb meant you got your hands dirty--but at least you had a union, pension, etc., for all that grime.
Service jerbs, OTOH: all grime, no perks.

If only there was an economic system where people were guaranteed housing, work, child care, medical care, and provided care in old age. There would be no need for money, everything is given to you.
Of course, in order for such a system to work, there would be some trade offs in freedom, as a person would of course be required to stay home, required to go to work, etc.
It's OK though, because there would be a benevolent few people who oversaw the various communities in order to make sure that everyone had what they needed and, of course, continued to do what they were supposed to do. Since this is an important job, it is possible that their standard of living may be higher than your average worker, and they would be in charge of selling what was produced in the communes.
Of course, these trade offs (lack of freedom, ruling class) are totally reasonable considering the evils of capitalism.
Sound good?

Young Americans have soured on capitalism. In a Harvard University poll conducted last year, 51 percent of 18-to-29 year-olds in the U.S. said they opposed capitalism; only 42 percent expressed support. Among Americans of all ages, by contrast, a Gallup survey last year found that 60 percent held positive views of capitalism.
A poll released last month found American millennials closely split on the question of what type of society they would prefer to live in: 44 percent picked a socialist country, 42 percent a capitalist one. The poll, conducted by YouGov and the Victims of Communism Memorial Foundation, found that 59 percent of Americans across all age groups preferred to live under capitalism.

You guys learned nothing from Trump. She is playing this perfectly and is pulling another Trump move by doubling down.
It doesn't matter what is actually happening, it matters how your base feels and what they want to believe.

upward mobility is all but dead for young people. it used to be that if you were smart and resourceful, you could work hard in school, get a good education and get a good job that would afford you a house, car, and two kids in a nice neighborhood.
now? even if you work hard in school, you won't be any different than millions of other college graduates vying for the few decent paying jobs still available. to get there you must assume a negative net worth of six figures with interest such that you end up paying $150-200K over the next 10-20 years of your life. this debt is inescapable and converts all educated young people without rich parents into wage slaves at the start line. next, there are only a handful of cities where there are abundance of good paying jobs. it is no coincidence that the cost of living in these cities completely consumes whatever salary your good paying job provides. smart enough to do complex mathematical and data analysis? jumped through all the hoops and got your dream job? cool, it'll cost you $3000/month to not have roommates and live within 50 minutes of your office. oh, you'll be renting from some dumbshit boomer who bought the property 20 years ago for 1/8 of what it's worth today.
oh, but the faggot capitalist dipshits here would argue that the market will solve these problems? ding fag! boomers put in place laws restricting new construction such that demand vastly outstrips supply, driving up the value of their properties so they can live off the flesh, i mean rents of young people.
go fuck yourself if you think capitalism works. it works for those with capital. the problem with it is that over time, returns to capital outpace real GDP growth. wealth shifts from the general population to those with the most accumulated wealth and inequality deepens. this is illustrated by the fact that stocks and real estate have gone up while real wages haven't. Picketty was right but the powers that be would prefer to call him a dumb socialist lest the rest of Capitalist's sheep wake up to his findings and overthrow the rent-seeking Priest-like class of Capitalism.
