It's always seemed like NFL teams run the football WAY too much

They are eventually going to realise this like they did with 3-pointers in basketball.

A big purpose of the run is to leave defences open for a play action. But how many fuckin times have you seen some shitty team run the ball 3 downs for .5 yards each, throw their hands up, and punt? Has any one here watched "Jacksonville" or "The Bills" play? Their offences are designed to produce Losses. The Bills used to have a QB whose name was Lossman iirc btw.

You see it when teams are behind too. So many teams just basically accept that a loss is going to happen if they're down by more than ~2 touchdowns and never really pass the fuckin' football. The Pats' comeback in super bowl 51 was fuckin unprecedented, that shit doesn't happen.

Also I barely know shit about football, Im from the Eastern Hemisphere originally.

Edit: What do you think the Colts would've accomplished without Manning calling the plays? THAT'S the type of team that would just run the football intentionally into coverage, ngaf, Lose, and not care.
