I set 5 alarms. I will usually snooze one or two and then get up and let the others just ring out, or shut them off if my phone happens to be near.

I don't shower in the morning; I shower in the evening after I work out.

Put in contacts and put on my makeup/sunscreen/moisturizer

Eat a bowl of rice krispies cereal

Drink a protein shake and take two vitamins and a creatine tablet

Go back to bed, set timer for ten to twenty mins depending on how much time I have left

Wake up, finish getting dressed and packing my lunch bag, then leave for work either on bicycle or in car depending on circumstances

Alarm goes off, I give myself a 15 min snooze. Then get up. Always make bed (no tucking in sheets, just grabbing sheet and comforter together, throwing them up in air and guiding them down with my hands as they float down to look more or less straight on the bed)

Immediately go piss. Then brush my mouth guard clean.

Go up to my workout room. Do 10-12 minutes of stretching, then 2000-2500 feet on the Versaclimber at a brisk pace. Watch cnn dur8ng climb to see what libs are outraged over that day.

Come downstairs dripping wet. Have a bowl of cereal and a sliced apple while I browse xoxo

Finish breakfast, go to room to pick out outfit for the day. Go to bathroom to warm up shower and brush teeth. Take a ten minute shit, browsing xoxo. Jump in shower after.

Get out, get dressed, and usually play guitar for 10-15 minutes. Leave the house.

The key to my morning routine is that I prepare everything at night. all clothes organized/set out. gym bag and work clothes packed an organized. I don't like to have to think about anything at 5am.

I've got the GOAT alarm scheme:

First thing to go off is the Phillips wake-up light. This thing is incredible, one of the best purchases I've ever made. The light gradually gets brighter for half an hour before the radio turns on.

While the light is getting brighter (but before the radio goes off): My Cuisinart coffeemaker goes off. It has a built-in grinder so it's pretty damn loud, but it's in my apartment kitchen and is thus not a guarantee to wake me up.

Then the radio goes off on the Phillips. There is hot fresh coffee waiting for me. I'm frequently able to get up at this point.

Finally, I use a back-up alarm on my phone. This one comes into play somewhat frequently as the three things that have happened already are all a bit subtle

-Alarm goes off at 6am. Jump out of bed immediately.

-Walk over to coffee machine which has cup of coffee waiting for me. Chug coffee.

-Put on workout clothing.

-Chill on couch reading twitter / news or watching youtube for 25 minutes.

-Leave for my exercise, which may be gym or may be running.

-Arrive home at 8am. Put grass-fed uncurred bacon on my pan to slow-cook on low heat. Prepare my combo lunch/dinner, which I eat as my last food of the day at 4pm.

-Shower + get dressed

-Take bacon off pan. Cook eggs. Make 32oz smoothie with berries, crustiferous vegitbles, seeds, and a few various healthy powers (eg. collogen / tumeric) and garlic.

-Eat eggs + Bacon.

-Leave for work at 8:50am. (10 min walk). Drink smoothie while walking.

i don't exercise in the morning because i've read repeatedly that it's bad for your heart to exert yourself heavily during the 3 or 4 hour window immediately after rising in the morning.

something like 70% of all heart attacks occur in the first 4 hours after a man wakes up, and overexerts himself by mowing the lawn or clearing snow or something.

i'm not at risk for a heart attack, but the logic seems to be that it's stressful for your system, even if you are healthy.

2. Puppydood acknowledges I’m up but stays at the foot of the bed because he’s a good boy.

3. Put on kettle for French press. Roll a joint while water comes to boil. pup knows it’s time for breakfast. Feed dog, pour coffee and smoke my joint in the morning air next to hound. Second cup of coffee in the shower while I plan my day (at least 20 mins), pup goes back to bed. Finish getting ready and take dog on walk.

4. Walk to work (incl. 20 min. Metro ride - check social media, email and xo). Grab iced coffee and breakfast sandwich if I didn’t prepare my own breakfast sandwich the night before (homemade sour dough). In the office by 8am at the latest. Eat breakfast and catch up on email then start working.

No alarm set. My 4 year old boy comes into our room at first light and kisses me on the cheek and cuddles between me and Mom. After 10 or so minutes, we both get up and take our "morning pee" together, wash our hands and brush our teeth. Then he makes me a cup of Peets Major Dickason in the Keurig while I fry up some bacon and eggs. Older boy comes out and they play instruments, madlibs or Carcassone together as I finish cooking and plate their food. Get them seated at the table, wake up Mom, and then jump in the shower. Quickly dress and a hug and kiss for everyone, then I'm out the door.

For me, b/c insane import tax on US cigs I'm smoking Winstons. Slowly tapering down to 5 a day...I used to smoke a pack a day, now down to 10 cigs a day.

I tend to have a pretty high tolerance and I start my day pretty early (5ish). Roll a J while coffee is brewing. Sit outside with my puppydood and give him scritches while smoking, sipping my coffee, reading the news and enjoying the morning air. I ease into my day but am in the office by 8am, which is usually when my morning buzz is wearing off. Cig at 9 am to get into work mode and then I'm off.

I smoked a joint in the morning and at lunchtime each day of the bar exam and passed. Just how it affects my brain I suppose, it legitimately helps me focus. I've met a few other folks in law school that had a similar response.

1) number of alarms set: 3. 4am, 5am, 5:15am.

2) how long you roll around in bed like a dog before actually getting up: get up immediately after last alarm.

3) shower duration: shower the night before.

4) breakfast options: oatmeal or Greek yogurt and an Atkins shake

5) notable pre-wageslave activities, e.g. poasting, lifting, reading, etc: visit Animal Rescue Site, gloss over Facebook, check XO
