I'm even more confident of this than I am of ANH > ESB. The Phantom Menace has a lot of bad superficial aspects: Jar-Jar isn't funny, Anakin has a bad actor, too much politics, etc. But it's still basically a Star Wars movie, with a real plot arc and a few cool ideas like podracing.
Revenge of the Sith is just a bloated meandering CGI monstrosity.

Incomprehensible take.
The two best sequences in the prequels are the yoda fight and the colosseum fight with the monsters in front of Duku— both in ROTS. ROTS was not a good film because of how shitty it’s key scenes were (lava planet, lol) and how badly Vader’s character was written (2.5 movies of him being a law-abiding citizen, albeit a whiny little bitch, and then abruptly 20 minutes later we’re mass-slaughtering children) and acted (see: “whiny little bitch”). But it’s the best of the three.
Phantom Menace is so clearly the worst you’re beyond help if you think otherwise. Jar-Jar is a *historically* terrible character; Natalie Portman’s lines are cringeworthy; hippie Liam Neeson is one of the strangest casting choices in the series.
Last: Mitichlorians.

Just lateral to a v50 in two years, dave, and everyone will look at your Williams/CLS pedigree and your first firm and assume you're brighter than you are. Credentials and other proxies for talent are your friend. Stay on the move -- always upward or lateral! -- and your 250 hours of grinding for the lsat and 1 year of grinding through 1L can be parlayed into a lifetime of unmerited mid-six-figure job security.
And remember, when you make partner: none of your subordinates will have the time or comfort to reflect fully on your lack of natural ability, let alone the courage to speak about it with your colleagues, if you constantly terrorize them with unreasonable and capricious demands and deliver self-contradictory and never-satisfied feedback on their work product. Keep those fuckers looking over their own shoulders.
This words are those of wisdom that have helped many before you, dave. Good luck.

TY. I actually watch the prequels regularly, because my wife is a big rifftrax/mst3k fan, and now my little baby likes SW.
I'm personally fascinated by the senseless squandering of some of the world's most valuable and highest-potential IP. Like at some point, somebody came to Lucas and told him straight up "the focus groups are 100% clear that audiences hate Jar-Jar; please, George, sit down with Dr. Liu and let him explain these results to you" and Lucas, like a fucking caricature of a pre-Moneyball boomer GM, was like "nah! I got this; audiences are gonna love him! Look, look-- did you see the scene we just CGI'd where Liam he-- he-- hahahaha I can't stop fucking laughing!-- Jar-Jar sticks out his tongue out to eat an apple off the table, and Liam he-- he fucking grabs his tongue out of midair!!!" (**doubles over, gasps for air laughing**)

(1) I've said before that, overall, Ewan McGregor comes away from the prequels looking the best of any actor involved (or at least heavily involved; Christopher Lee does fine, I guess). It's not just people who've turned out to be jokes overall (i.e., Christenson); Portman's a respected actress now, but she's *atrocious* in those films. E.g., "You're breaking my heart, Anakin!" "I was not elected [N.B.: lol at an "elected" queen. Jfc Lucas can you quit being *such* a fag with your faggy bland boomer politics.] to sit by while you discuss this invasion in a CO-mitt-ee" "You're taking me down a path I can't follow!" "So this is how democracy dies: with thunderous applause." [That last one is Lucas's fault; see earlier note about faggy bland politics that he thinks are edgy and awesome and incisive.] Ewan sort of just quietly, dryly does his thing; he's on screen more than anyone other than Christenson, but he walked away from those abortions no worse for the wear -- and much richer.
(2) I to this day do not understand why they created Darth Maul, promoted him TO THE HILT in trailers, promo materials, on Taco Bell cups, etc., and then gave him 2 lines (1?) and like 4 minutes of screen time. I assume they cut a lot of his stuff for time? And left in 80 minutes of inscrutable trade negotiations and way-more-boring-than-real-life (especially now) political bullshit?

They should have used IG droids like from the Mandalorian instead of those lame as fuck battle droids
That black insect-like droid from the Bill Burr episode was also 178 and they should've have more cool concepts like that in TPM

The prequels are all bad, with AOTC being the worst, and ROTS being the best. Phantom Menace was just sort of dumb and Portman is unbelievably terrible, but it at least had lots of screentime for Neeson and McGregor.
Portman and Christenson combined give quite possibly the worst acting performances in the history of major motion picture cinema. Portman was somehow able to rebound, but they destroyed Christenson's career. Funny enough, he was actually great in Shattered Glass - a movie which was released between AOTC and ROTS. Leads me to believe almost all of the blame lies with George Lucas.
