I can't run or bike after my pectoral surgery - basically all I can do is walk and leg press with a sling on for exercise for the next 4 weeks - i guess i can do one arm shoulder presses and curls with my good arm if I am careful.

Have done this every day for a week. Not sure its much of a useful exercise - I am less winded walking up the hills - but it's relaxing at least.

My wife also comes with me most of the time so its a nice way to spend an hour with her and get her to remember what its like to "exercise"

Have also been doing leg press, leg curls and one arm overhead DB press at the gym. Going to fuck up my good shoulder doing that probably.

no, that probably would have torn my rotator cuff or labrum instead.

I actually fouled the shit out of a 6'8 250 pound big white guy I had been battling with. I came down on the ball and his arm as he was jumping up full strength. Basically took my arm with him as I can exerting max force in the other direction and it popped. Freak injury on a play that happens 20 times a game.

Decent enough. Depending on age, if you eat right you at least won't gain any weight. Your muscle definition will still be shit though.

Edit - let your pecs heal and dont try to fuck that up.

I actually lost 23 pounds since February. Started at 213. Lost the first 15 on purpose getting lean. Then I got hurt and dropped another 10 after surgery to 190. Back to 193.

Should I just not work out upper body at all for the next month (can't do anything but passive ROM work on the bad arm for 4 more weeks) and let both sides get skinny or try to keep the other side strong?

what you're doing probably isn't doing you much good

one of the best workouts overall is the stepmill. do that instead.

the gym is somewhat inconvenient during the week since they closed the closest one and I don't have $300 per month for equinox.

I have a normal treadmill at home and should consider alternating just walking up steep hills at 4 mph.

a treadmill at high incline is basically a stepmill

that can be a real workout

you said small hills. i think you need big hills or all hills to get a real workout walking

it's obviously not as good as the other shit that you regularly did, but its definitely a ton better than nothing.

And it apparently does wonders for your mental state. Don't bring your cell phone, just keep that hour walking to yourself. I don't "go walking" nearly enough

I walk ten thousand steps a day which is basically this. It’s not really much of a workout but it’s healthy and burns like 300 calories. I’m a fan.
