They admit droves of students with the intention of throwing out tons. Also, most students fail at least one class per year. When that happens, they have to do a remediation, which is basically a retake exam. If they fail that, they have to repeat the entire year's worth of courses - even if the failing class was a 1 credit BS class and they got As in every other class. Also, for a lot of the classes that involve doing procedures, the grade is determined by the amount of money each procedure generates for the school, rather than the difficulty of the procedure or how skillfully it was performed. So, a lot of students just do the same handful of easy but expensive procedures over and over to get credit. Its obviously a seen as a profit arm for the broader university, and probably how they can waive tuition at the medical school.
