yelp for example. if you do a search, some of the retrieved content is only viewable in the app. so you say “open in app”. but oops! your search wiery got erased. i see this pattern with a lot of shit
in other cases the UI of apps looks shittier than a modern mobile-friendly site anyway.
all this “app” pushing is based on misunderstood research. mobile users soend like 80-90% of their phone time in apps, believe it or not. But this is heavily skewed by dumb teenagers using snapchat, instagram and playing phone games. no one actually wants web application functionality in an app if they can....just go to the site. doesn’t take that long to type a url and most people trying to get shit done (look things up, etc.) are using the internet in the first place. |
