It’s very clear the Catholic Church is a fraud. The (((Pope))) has single handedly undermined the entire institution, which is now just a liberal propaganda apparatus.
I won’t get into the sexual abuse coverups, because all religions do that.
But I’m curious if there’s any straw that can break the camel’s back and move you towards evangelicalism or Joel Osteen.
What if the Catholic Church allowed women to become priests? Would that do it? (((They))) have the Church on the ropes, and the (((pope))) has been salvating about making a move like this, so women priests may not be far off.

"But I’m curious if there’s any straw that can break the camel’s back and move you towards evangelicalism or Joel Osteen."
describe how you imagine this happening.
i can't see a faithful, educated catholic thinking "you know what, since the pope sucks i dont need any of the sacraments, 2000 years of church teaching, writings of the saints etc anymore. i'll just watch that osteen guy on youtube instead."

The Catholic Church incorrectly preaches that the position of Pope is divinely inspired, and as such, when the Pope issues a decree on church doctrine, he binds the entire Church.
Anyone who isn’t steeped in this bullshit can take one look at this (((Pope))) and know that isn’t true, and this guy should be rejected.
So I can imagine a faithful Catholic realizing that what he’s been taught his entire life is a lie. As such, I can imagine him looking to other places for the truth. And one day comes across Joel Osteen, sees one free 180 as fuck message after another, and says to himself, you know what? Maybe this Osteen guy isn’t how the (((media))) portrayed him after all. Maybe I’ll start listening to him regularly now.

dude you have been "into" religion for 2 months? most educated middle-aged catholics have spent hundreds if not thousands of hours of their lives on this shit.
catholic school from K-12. mass twice a week until college, then once a week.
i have more in depth conversations about God and the Jesus's salvific sacrifice with my school-aged children than I've ever heard from Osteen, just... shut up, please.

*assumes my position is correct*
*has spent 2 months listening to youtube videos*
*is correct*
The Pope's role, whether or not his jurisdiction is universal, leader among equals, his ability to make error free pronouncements (in rare circumstances) is the subject of books, volumes, councils spanning hundreds of years involving people smarter than either of us, so I guess go read those for my opinion.

What would be Joel Osteen's message to you if your child died?
The RCC would tell you that your child is in Paradise because Jesus Christ suffered and died on the Cross, opening the doors of Paradise to all who have been baptized in His Name. And that if you live a life of grace and penance you can and should hope to be reunited with your child one day.
I feel like Osteen would be busy telling me about a sale on mens slacks at JC Penny and to "live, love, breathe" or something, set to a rock band.

You feel this because you don’t know anything about him or his message.
“Osteen's great aunt Johnnie Daniels was a good Christian woman. Her door was always open. She provided money, food and shelter to those in need. As a reward for her kindness, she was beaten to death in her home by a crack addict with a claw hammer. She was 86.
"Surely," I say, "when a thing like this happens it's difficult to keep 'living your best life now'?"
But Osteen – unflustered, calm, polite – disagrees. "I don't want to sound like I'm super spiritual or anything but… I don't… I haven't… From the time that I was little I've had a good sense of trust and confidence that God was in control. Even with my great aunt. I believe part of faith is trusting… Maybe this would be a better example. We had a good friend and their 16-year-old boy left one night and he wasn't supposed to take the car. He hit a tree and killed himself. They're still not over it. And you know, they're good people. It's hard to explain, but… I believe that God can keep you… that you won't leave this earth until you're supposed to go. That's kind of my thing now. Now I know it would be hard if someone was taken away tomorrow, but I just think that's the way you have to look at it. You know, God's in control and we don't understand everything. I don't have to understand why my mother got healed and a lot of people, they're in the hospital and they're not going to make it. But I look at them and say this: 'God's got you in the palm of His hand. You won't leave one second before your time. If God wants you to be here, then you're going to be here.' So I try to see it like that."

The RCC would tell you that its possible your child should NOT have died, that it was a tragedy, that a sinner murdered him.
"It's all somehow God's plan, we just dont know" seems kind of like pablum.
But I will confess, I dont really listen to JO. But this excerpt was not promising.
