Don't dismiss it out of hand, brothers. Social media is the great societal opiate for our age. And only by stopping our participation can we unhook ourselves and return back to reality.
Me: I use Facebook messenger to talk to friends, parents, etc. I don't post anything to FB or use the site in any way. I use Twitter to follow crypto and foreign policy people. I don't Tweet, sometimes I like some Tweets.
GF: Updates Instagram 1/month. I got her to uninstall the app after I made her realize that using it made her unhappy. FB messenger to talk to friends.
Parents: They use FB messenger all the time to talk to family. Like boomers tend to do, they fwd shitty stories and propaganda to their friends, and vice versa.
