An organization wide email was sent out about the position and a bio about the new hire. She's a large black woman. It mentioned how she led various diversity "programs" at her former job and my mind immediately said in a ghetto black voice "we need mo money for dem programs". I had to think for a second if I had said that aloud or not, but then I started quietly chuckling at my desk.

Lol at blacks. Even in the corporate world they need their welfare money for dem programs and make work jobs. The entire position exists so the company can say we have a black female as an executive.

To make matters worse - these token jobs can’t be paid normal wages or the company will get called out - so companies pay double to make job look legit.

Absolutely. Don't forget the fancy job titles too. My F500 uses levels on our job profiles, so for example I'm an Analyst V, which is Lead Analyst. Many of these diversity jobs will be level 2, which would be like an Associate Analyst. Yet their job title will be DIRECTOR OF INCLUSION, or SENIOR MANAGER OF DIVERSITY. Despite them not even having anyone that reports to them.

My F500 calls them "Diversity Program Managers", we have about a dozen of them. As far as I know, they make presentations to different groups within the company. Then make various Factsheets and reports that get posted on a Sharepoint and never get downloaded.
