"If you are gonna rip up the floors I would suggest getting tile that look like wood and have the patterning and the grain and I would get in a slightly darker wood. and then for the back splash I would do maybe a glass white subway tile in a horizontal grid so it gives a modern look without making it too modern. I would also suggest a light grey grout to accent the pattern.

If you don't want to rip up the tile on the floor I would suggest doing a vinyl stickers to give it a refresh you can find some here. Some that I found that I thought would look good with the suggested back splash are 1, 2, 3

Also, I would suggest changing out the cabinet pulls to refresh the space as a whole, lowes sells some cheap that look really nice like this one here
